a sportcoat is the ideal garment that can transform even the most lackluster ensemble into something fashionable.  don a blazer with jeans and a t-shirt to add a little juice for a date, or throw one on with slim fit slacks for a cool casual look for work.  wear it with a shirt, tie, and dress pants for an upscale weekend look.  sportcoats/blazers are the most versatile piece in a discerning man’s wardrobe.  my favorite option is with a dress shirt, no tie, and a killer pocket square.

silk scarves are for fashion, not warmth (as a cashmere scarf would be).   the in-between weather days of spring are the perfect time to toss on a smart trenchcoat and add a sense of style and class with a 100% silk scarf.  this “patchwork” pattern is a sheer masterpiece, buy it if you can find it for sale.  wear it as pictured (while brooding), or wear it under your jacket so that just a little peaks out around your neck for a touch of color and elegance.

regardless of trends, the best collar for you is one that is balancing and flattering. as the closest part of clothing to your face, your collar has a surprisingly powerful influence on your overall appearance. If you have a rounder/wider head, don't wear an extreme spread collar.  same applies with a narrower head, don't wear a narrow point collar.  always select a collar style which counter-balances your most prominent features.
